It’s showing a clash between innocence and evil. Coyotito is just a baby and really can’t do anything, but yet this scorpion come and bites him. The scorpion is like the devil coming to harm the family. The gods are almost warning Kino for they know something is going to happen. Their way of warning him is through the devil.
